Welcome to Doggie Dojo NYC!

 Home of The Concrete Paw,

A dog training curriculum made specifically for big city pet parents.

The Intro course is where everything starts at the Dojo!

One of our trainers will come to your home where everyone has the easiest time focusing on improvement.

During this course you and your pup will learn the first principles and foundational behaviors of the Concrete Paw.

After this course you'll have access to our other services with a recommendation on how best to move forward from your trainer.

Try it alone, stick with privates, do some groups, or make use of our training services that focus on teaching the dog. Its up to you!

We are happy to help however we can!

What is the Intro Course?

The Doggie Dojo Intro Course is a 90-minute, in-home onboarding session designed to prepare both dogs and humans for the Doggie Dojo system.

It introduces our Play → Train → Chill approach, builds foundational skills, and helps us determine the right path forward for your dog.

This is not a daycare evaluation or a behavior test. It's a structured starting point designed for long-term success.

Is the Intro Course required?

Yes.

All dogs must complete the Intro Course (or an equivalent approval process) before attending:

Dojo Day

Dojo Overnight

This ensures: Dogs are placed into the right level of structure Humans understand how the dojo works Group environments remain safe and calm Expectations are clear from the beginning

Why is the Intro Course done in my home?

Working in your home allows us to:

See your dog in their real, everyday environment

Address challenges where they actually happen

Teach handling skills that translate to daily life

Create smoother transitions into group settings

In-home sessions give us better information and give you more useful coaching.

Why are there two trainers?

The Intro Course is intentionally led by two trainers:

One trainer focuses primarily on your dog

Working on engagement, movement, regulation, and responsiveness

One trainer focuses primarily on the human

Coaching timing, mechanics, structure, and how to support calm behavior

This allows us to work with both sides of the leash at the same time, without rushing or splitting attention.

What happens during the 90 minutes?

During the session, we:

Introduce the Play–Train–Chill system

Build foundational engagement with your dog

Observe regulation, comfort, and learning style

Coach you in real time on handling and structure

Answer questions and set expectations

Recommend next steps (Dojo Day, modified entry, or additional support) The session is active, practical, and collaborative.
